Honoring U.S. Veterans, both young and old. The Midway Aircraft Carrier is now a museum and a MUST-SEE attraction in San Diego. The USS Midway was the longest-serving aircraft carrier in the 20th century. Named after the climactic Battle of Midway of June 1942, the Midway was built in only 17 months. Commissioned on September 10, 1945, the Midway missed World War II service action by one week. The Midway was the first in a three-ship class of large carriers that featured an armored flight deck and a powerful air group of 120 planes. There is a wonderful display of aircraft that have flown from the deck of the Midway throughout the museum. You won’t be bored on this tour!
